Delaney at the Vale

Delaney at the Vale, LCSs’ first development in New England, is strategically located in metro Boston, taking advantage of suburban life and proximity to Boston’s amenities, healthcare, and transportation network. The four-story senior living community adapts LCSs national model “Delaney” to the Boston market. The design team worked closely with the client to fine-tune the program and develop a design that is adapted to the site and optimizes operations.

Perched on the edge of a hill, the large building is articulated through bays and balconies and a rich material palette. The balconies and patios provide individual outdoor spaces to all independent living units and help organize the building elements by establishing a sense of rhythm and hierarchy. A series of outdoor courtyards help connect the residents with nature.

The building is organized around a main, double height gallery and entertainment space that promotes social interaction amongst residents. The independent living amenities include a living room, bar, restaurant, cafe, fitness room, movie theater and activity rooms. The building also includes amenities for assisted living and two memory care households of 18 units each. The memory care residents enjoy a secure outdoor courtyard with sensory installations and quiet spaces for outdoor enjoyment.
