Holden Green
Facing outdated life-safety systems and outmoded finishes, the renovation at Holden Green upgraded the Harvard Affiliates apartment complex to current Harvard University standards. Originally built in the 1920s, improvements included new fire protection systems, new fire alarm systems, new electrical systems, new heating systems, and accessibility and finish upgrades throughout. The renovations proceeded through three phases to allow for continued occupancy. Six accessible units were provided for persons with disabilities requiring a rebuilt entrance plaza and reconfigured parking. Harvard’s Office of Sustainability has certified that Holden Green phase 1 met LEED silver equivalent and future phases have been designed to meet the same level of sustainability.
