Lasell Village

The expansion at Lasell Village, a CCRC integrated into the campus of Lasell University, introduces 42 new independent living residences and several amenities to complete the campus. These include a street-side restaurant, fitness center, multipurpose room with performance space, library, clubhouse, and wellness center, creating a dynamic hub for social, intellectual, and physical engagement. At the street level, large storefront windows reinforce the connection between amenity users, campus students, and village residents. A new pedestrian bridge connects the new McGuire Hall to the existing Town Hall building, linking residents to the community’s established amenities.

In collaboration with the Auburndale Historic District Commission, the design integrates the historic Robin Dell House, an 1850s farmhouse, into McGuire Hall to house two independent living units, ensuring its preservation.

The project also includes renovations to the Town Hall with complete upgrades to the 2nd and 3rd floors adding Assisted Living units and modernizing it’s Skilled Nursing. By reducing the number of skilled nursing beds, providing more private rooms, and creating a home-like environment, the facility will shift to a more sustainable nursing model that better meets current residents’ needs while anticipating those of future residents.

McGuire Hall is designed to meet the Passive House Institute (PHI) Classic Standard, employing an all-electric, envelope-first approach with thick insulation, triple-glazed windows, an airtight enclosure, and energy-recovery ventilation. These measures significantly reduce energy demand while enhancing comfort and air quality, aligning with Lasell Village’s commitment to sustainability, community, and care.
