Loft 23
Visually captivating yet deceptively simple, Loft23 is a residential property at University Park at MIT, a science and technology park near Central Square. The building’s glass ends look out to two adjacent parks and the sides are clad in pre-patinated green copper, which contrasts with the predominantly brick context, recalls the trim materials on nearby historic buildings and is made of 95% recycled content. The vegetated green roof plays a critical role in meeting the city’s strict storm water retention requirements. The units’ high and exposed ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and flexible open plans are marketed for “expressive individuals who are looking for a residence as stimulating and creative as they are.” This project continually earns some of the highest rents in Cambridge.
