SwitchPoint Quincy – Lab + Medical Office Building
SwitchPoint Quincy will support the revitalization of downtown Quincy by bringing much needed commercial development and jobs to the city center. The 250,000 lab and medical office building will be tenant ready and is part of a larger redevelopment plan. The project will be located within walking distance to the MBTA Red Line as well as several bus stops, creating a pedestrian-friendly environment. The ground level retail component will connect the six-story building into a mini-campus with a parking garage and residential tower. It will also serve as an anchor of further re-developments of Quincy Center.
A new road coming off the Burgin Parkway and elevating over the train tracks will be constructed to bring people to the SwitchPoint development. For people coming from the south, the lab will be the first building seen. The glass volume, as well as horizontal sun shades along the southern exposure, will follow the curvature of the road ushering people into the development. The building is primarily a brick massing with fixed proportions which lend itself well to the anticipated lab use. The glass volume also then works as a juxtaposition to the building’s core expression.
